Sources close to former New York City mayor and presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani say he is leaning toward running for governor. One close ally told the New York Daily News on Monday the chances are 'better than 50-50.'

Giuliani has met with top Republicans across New York State in recent months to discuss a possible run.

Rep. Pete King, a Republican from Long Island, says Giuliani believes he can turn around what is considered to be the most dysfunctional state government in the country.

Meanwhile, a Siena Research Institute poll released Monday found that only 15 percent of registered voters would vote for current Governor David Paterson, who has vowed to run.
