Draft Rudy Giuliani for Governor?
Can America's Mayor Save the Empire State?
Is it time for Rudolph Giuliani to throw his hat in the ring and run for Governor? That is a question many New Yorkers are asking.
Just take a look the joke of a budget the State passed in April of this year which the Division of Budget now estimates will $2.1 billion underfunded. Everyone at the time knew that New York was in the midst of a severe economic recession and that due to the crisis on Wall Street tax receipts in New York State would plummet. So what do the politicians in up in Albany do? Raise spending by 9% which is an additional $11 billion in expenditures. How do they pay for it? Raise taxes of course! In Albany there is nothing wrong with adding $8.3 billion in new taxes and fees.
The MTA is in trouble? Raise the fare and cook the books. That's their solution.
The State is in trouble and our State Senators are too busy fighting over office space, titles and pork to get to work to fix New York.
No wonder a movement is underway to draft Rudy Giuliani to run for Governor. A Draft Rudy for Governor website has been set up and a Rudy for Governor page has been started on Facebook.
After all Rudy has faced this all before. While "America's Mayor" is mainly known for internationally for his heroics on 9/11 here in New York he is still remembered as the abrasive Mayor whose force of will transformed how New York is governed and made the City livable again.
If he could tackle the bureaucracy and corruption of New York City politics with such success just think what he could do up in Albany.
